The Handi-Capable Association

Our History

Handi-Capable was started in the spring of 2014 by Guillaume and Maggie Goudy.

Their daughter, Emma, was born in 2009 with cerebral palsy, and as she grew, they saw a need to improve the resources available to families, children and adults with special needs.

Motivated by the actions and energy of the association, other families started to get involved very quickly. As a result, Handi-Capable, and this team of dedicated individuals, have designed and sponsored an increased number of activities each year providing help to an ever-growing number of families and children.

Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission is to break barriers so that children and adults with special needs can live beyond the limits.

We envision a world where all people with handicaps can live life to the fullest.

The Founders

“Emma is our strength. She gives us ongoing energy that allows us to go beyond what is given to us and the determination to keep looking outside of the box. We have traveled the world looking for methods that will help her to develop and grow. Without this energy and diligence, we believe that she wouldn’t have made the progress that she has. Our hope is to use this energy to help enrich the lives of other children with handicaps.”

About Emma

Emma was born in August 2009 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Despite having no problems during pregnancy or birth, at 4 months of age differences started to be noticeable between her and other children. At 6 months of age she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.

She is a delightful child, full of life and blessed with an abundance of inner strength and intelligence. Unfortunately, her body doesn’t always do what she wants it to do.

She is incredibly energetic and all who meet her are enchanted by her smile, the sparkle in her eyes and her fight to progress.
